Call for Papers- Fourth Biennial SSHD Conference, Oct. 28-30, 2005

The Society for the Study of Human Development is pleased to announce that it will be holding its fourth biennial meeting on October 28-30, 2005 at the Asilomar Conference Center, near Monterey California ( www.asilomarcenter.com ).The Program Committee invites proposals for symposia and posters. The conference theme is "The Changing Life Course."

Keynote Speaker William Damon will present a talk entitled: "Studies in the development of purpose: Life-span patterns, pathways, and psychological significance".

Symposium proposals are encouraged in the following topical areas: "Rethinking Young-Old," "Emerging or Young-Young Adulthood," "The Changing Economy," "Religion," "Global Aging," and "HealthTechnology." Posters will be accepted for research on these and related lifespan themes. We are particularly interested in encouraging graduate student applications for poster presentations.

The deadline for submission of proposals is January 20, 2005. Submission forms will be posted on the SSHD web site, www.sshdonline.org.

This conference builds on the success of the three previous meetings, each of which proved to be an outstanding forum for discussion of emerging theories in the interdisciplinary pursuit of lifespan studies. Papers presented at these meetings have been or are in the process of being published in the Society's journal, "Research in Human Development." More information on the Society can be found on the website, www.sshdonline.org.
