Committee Report

The
publications committee is pleased to report that the Society's Journal,
Research in Human Development, is off to a successful beginning.
Issue 1 Volume 1 will be available in early Spring, 2004, and subsequent
issues are on schedule for publication in the remaining quarters
of 2004. We would like to thank Jacque Eccles for her leadership
in serving as journal editor, and would also like to express thanks
to the guest editors for each of the forthcoming issues.
The current format of the journal, in which each issue is devoted
to a specific theme, will be maintained in subsequent volumes; however,
we are hoping to move to a "call for papers" model rather
than the present invited papers only model. We are also grateful
for the support of Bill Webber, our editor at Lawrence Erlbaum.
In order for our journal to succeed, we need institutional endorsements.
Please recommend our journal to your institution's library. Finally,
I would like to thank Rich Lerner who has agreed to take on the
role as Publications Committee Chair as I move into the President-elect
position. I know we can count on him for continued success of the
journal as we move into this next important phase in the development
of our society.
